Exhibition 1 - Passion Project

Curatorial Statement

Passion isn’t a word to be used lightly. It describes a very specific feeling, one which is all encompassing. You are inseparable from it; it becomes you and you it. It is your way of life.

Presented in this exhibition is passion through the eyes of three artists. All utilize analogue photography to capture the world around them. Their return to ‘old’ media formats is one which underscores the desire of young people to be allowed to slow down, to take the time to engage with what is important to them. In a world which is increasingly critical of the pursuit of art, built in this studio is a world which celebrates them.

Each of these photos is a moment these artists have chosen to immortalize through emulsion, chemicals and their artistic vision. These photos were selected as they represent for each artist what passion means to them. Conor McCaul through his long-term documenting of his boxing club, Archie Vova through his capturing of tattoo culture, and Battlecat through his tireless street photography.

Joy, agony, fervor and an unwavering dedication to their crafts is what defines this exhibition.

We hope you enjoy our inaugural show.
