“In 2012, local community members brought an 8 year old girl “Malak” from Gaza, Palestine to Melbourne for medical procedures and at the time I was volunteering to document her story for the organisation who sponsored her. After her operations were completed, I escorted her back to Gaza. During her time in Melbourne, I photographed her stay and afterward, her return to Gaza. In 2024, I revisited the photographs I captured in Gaza in making a book. Each copy was hand stitched by a single thread that overtime will loosen and invites the new owner of the book to tighten. The book's design pays homage to the resilience of the Palestinian people in Gaza, made from recycled paper and individually hand-stitched, reflecting the strength and dedication that define their stories.”
